Monster Sculpt

Zbrush

Continuing on with Zbrush, I attempted a sculpt of a Monster Hunter style creature. I am impressed by the program Zbrush as it allows for the creating of high poly models very rapidly. I Still have many brushes to learn.

I based the sculpt from a Monster Hunter concept and used mainly the ClayBuildup, Move and SnakeHook brushes.

Cow Sculpt

Zbrush

A Cow sculpted and vertex painted as an assignment for the Adv Diploma of games 3d characters class. We first sculpted the high poly version of the cow in Zbrush. This would form the basis of the cows shape. Then lowered the poly count and brought that into Maya. Here we retopologized the cow in a low poly format and brought that model back into Zbrush to be vertex painted.

A test of the cow in Unity, also showing the topology.

Both Concepts made use of the marquee tool for all the shapes.

Asymmetric Real Time Strategy

Unity 3D

This post outlines the development progress of a Unity game created for the end of year expo at Central Institute of Technology.

We are currently in the beginning stages of development, fleshing out the story and creating assets. My main role in the team is to code but I have taken on other positions as well. So far the game has a place holder player that snaps to the terrain and moves to the players clicked position. The collision is yet from perfect as there is no collision detection for objects that are in the scene. The game also features an early version of multilayer. I was able to port over a network and sync script from my previous Tron game which allows for a host and client to connect.

Hand Painted Texture

Photoshop

In this post I display my attempts at hand painted textures following dota 2 and warcraft as examples.

First up is a stone floor texture. I gave the texture more depth by adding darker outlines around the stones and highlighting the rim. It is completely tileable.

Secondly is a ground texture. In this texture I went for a sharper look but unfortunately it didn't stand out as much as the stone texture. Also tileable.

Low Poly Tree
